Project Introduction

Sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, The Hong Kong Jockey Club "Accessible Art @ HKMoA” Pilot Scheme is an initiative by the Hong Kong Museum of Art in collaboration with Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong to enhance accessibility for all and promote social inclusion in the museum setting. The scheme encompasses a wide range of programmes, services and facilities such as braille captions, audio description and sign videos. Covering three major exhibitions at the museum, namely "A Sense of Place: from Turner to Hockney" (2019.11.29-2020.05.27), "Ordinary to Extraordinary: Stories of the Museum” and “Hong Kong Experience • Hong Kong Experiment”, the accessibility services are provided at the galleries for people with different abilities. In addition, accessible guided tours, tailor-made workshops and various engagement programmes are available for the people with different abilities and their family members.

Audio Description

Audio Description provides a concise, objective description of the visual characteristics of artworks to enable people with visual impairment to create images in their minds.

Sign Video

Sign Videos are a friendly approach to guide the people with hearing impairment through the exhibitions and provide additional information about the works of art using the sign language.

Guided Tours

Docents will tailor-make ability appropriate tours for people with different abilities to paritcipate in the guided tour.
